The Supreme Court will convene for a plenum to elect a new chairman to replace Vsevolod Knyazev, who was arrested for taking a bribe.

 This was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court, informs Censor.NET.

 The plenary session will be held on May 26 at 10:00.

 "The draft agenda of the Plenum of the Supreme Court envisages the consideration of issues related to the election of the Chairman of the Supreme Court and the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court," the message reads.

 The hearings will be broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court.

 It will be recalled that on May 16, NABU and SAP announced the disclosure of a bribe-taking scheme by the leadership and judges of the Supreme Court. The law enforcement officers detained the current head of the Court, Knyazev, and seized $2.7 million. Later, the SAP informed Knyazev and his accomplice, a lawyer, about the suspicion.

 On the same day, the plenum of the Supreme Court voted to express no confidence in the head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev. Therefore, he lost the status of the head of the Supreme Court, but remains a judge of this instance.

 On May 18, the Supreme Council of Justice approved the SAP's request for Knyazev's arrest.

 The head of the SAP, Oleksandr Klymenko, specified that a lawyer's association was involved in the transfer of the bribe, which was actually used to cover the "back office", which allowed to influence the decisions of the Supreme Court and other courts. He did not name the bar association. The interests of the Ferrexpo Zhevago company were represented in the Supreme Court by the law firm "Ilyashov and Partners", but there they denied their involvement in the case.
