In the case of explosions on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines, new clues have appeared that allegedly lead to Ukraine.
This is stated in the investigation conducted by the German media companies NDR and WDR and the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung with the participation of the Swedish publication Expressen, the Polish Frontstory and the Danish Berlingske, which was published by the Tagesschau.
Journalists again mentioned the 15-meter Andromeda yacht, which was already featured in the investigation of explosions on gas pipelines. In particular, it became known in March that five men and one woman went out to sea on board a yacht in early September 2022 from the port of the German city of Rostock. The ship was leased by a Polish company owned by Ukrainians.
So far, journalists have found out that this company is a travel agency based in Warsaw. More than 100 companies are registered at her address.
This company has not had a significant turnover for years, and in 2020, its accounts received 2.8 million euros. It was not possible to find out what caused such a high profit.
Since September 2021, a woman who is said to live in Kyiv has been registered as the company's president and shareholder.
Journalists believe that she can only be a front person and point out that special services regularly use front companies to disguise or finance their operations.
The investigation emphasizes that the German security services have found another trail that leads to the Ukrainian armed forces.
It is noted that some of the people who rented the yacht Andromeda and later went to sea on it, presented their identity cards. Among the documents was a Romanian passport with the name "Stefan M.", however, according to the Federal Department of Criminal Affairs, a person with the same name and the same date of birth was in Romania at the time of the sabotage.
The yacht was rented by a man aged about 25, who lives in a city southeast of Kyiv. The authors indicate that they know his real name. Photos on social networks show the young man, sometimes in a military uniform with a helmet - and with noticeable tattoos. The investigation notes that the Ukrainian previously served in an infantry unit.
