Moldova and the USA will sign an agreement on "open skies", which will create conditions for the launch of direct flights between the two countries.
This was reported by the US Embassy in Chisinau, Newsmaker writes.
The agreement will be signed on May 18 by the US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma and the Minister of Infrastructure of Moldova Lilia Dabiža.
"The Open Skies Agreement symbolizes the first step towards the liberalization of air transport between our countries. Together, we are strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties."
This is a strong signal of our support for Moldova's further path to creating a more open and transparent business environment," the US Embassy said.
The entry into force of the agreement will create prerequisites for the launch of direct flights from Chisinau to the USA, will contribute to the opening of the air services market in Moldova and the diversification of destinations from Chisinau International Airport.
On the other hand, it will positively affect the strengthening of diplomatic and economic relations, promotion of investment cooperation between countries.
In addition, the creation of an open aviation space with the United States will bring economic benefits to Moldova due to the increase in passenger traffic, as well as increased competition in the domestic aviation market.
