In Latvia, the historical name of the Russian Kaliningrad - Karalyauchi or the German version - Königsberg will be used. Such recommendations were provided by the country's expert language commission.
This was reported on Twitter by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgar Rinkevich.
"So, Karalyauchi," he wrote.
In particular, the expert language commission of Latvia at the State Language Center advises using the traditional Latvian name Karalyauchi or the historical German name Koenigsberg instead of the Russian name Kaliningrad to designate the corresponding Russian exclave.
As reported, in Lithuania it is also proposed to abandon the use of the Soviet names of the Russian city of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region of the same name, changing them to Karalyaučius.
We will remind, earlier Poland changed the official name of the Russian city of Kaliningrad to Krulevets. Such a decision was made by the Commission for the Standardization of Geographical Names, recommending that the Russian Kaliningrad be called that way in future in Polish documents.
