The government of Kosovo has decided to strengthen the sanctions it has already imposed on Russia and Belarus due to the war in Ukraine, Kosova Press reports.
At the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, additional sanctions were voted, which bring Kosovo in line with the new sanctions of the European Union and the United States.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Donika Hervalla-Schwartz, who presented the new sanctions to the government, said that the sanctions are a response to Russia's aggression in Ukraine and Belarus' support for this aggression.
Hervalla-Schwartz said that "the Republic of Kosovo has renewed and implemented EU and US sanctions since the first package of sanctions, although it is not responsible under the agreements it has with the EU, as it still does not enjoy the status of a candidate country in the EU."
According to Hervalla-Schwartz, the sanctions include the export of critical technologies and industrial products, the import of asphalt and synthetic rubber products, the provision of Russian gas storage facilities, the transit of EU exports through Russia, and dual-use technologies.
