Moldova wants to introduce temporary restrictions on grain imports from Ukraine

Moldova plans to introduce temporary restrictions on the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine.

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Moldova, Volodymyr Bolya, NewsMaker reports.

Bolya told the head of the EU delegation in Moldova, Yanis Mazheiks, about "the ministry's intention to temporarily take measures introduced by some EU countries for the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine."

According to the minister, the government intends to compensate farmers for the excise duty on the diesel fuel they use and to subsidize the cost of plant protection and fertilizers.

On May 2, the European Commission took exceptional and temporary measures regarding the import of certain agricultural goods from Ukraine.

Thus, the European Commission replaced the unilateral decisions of five countries with its own regulation and now the import ban concerns four agricultural products: wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine.
