The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said that he is sure that the Western allies will hand over planes to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He said this during a press conference with the President of Finland Sauli Niiniste in Helsinki.
According to Zelenskyi, the allies are handing over certain weapons after the successful actions of the Ukrainian military on the battlefield.
"Why do I believe that we will have planes? Because soon we will have offensive actions. And after them, I am sure, they will give us planes," the Ukrainian president emphasized.
In turn, Niiniste explained that Finland will not be able to transfer its Hornet fighters to Ukraine until it receives a replacement.
On Wednesday, May 3, Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived with an unexpected visit to Finland to participate in the summit of the leaders of the Nordic countries and Ukraine and a number of bilateral meetings.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that sooner or later the Western allies will decide to provide Ukraine with Western F-16 fighter jets, as was the case with other types of weapons.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stated that Western partners have not yet put modern aircraft into service with Ukraine due to their own pragmatism.
