A methane explosion occurred at a mine in Slovakia, among the victims is a Ukrainian

As a result of methane ignition at a mine in western Slovakia, nine miners were injured, including one Ukrainian.

 This is reported by RMF24.

The incident took place at a mine near the settlement of Nowaki after lunch on Wednesday, April 26.

Slovakia's Economy Minister Karel Hirman said that according to preliminary findings, methane had started to burn unexpectedly, there was no explosion.

At that time, there were about 70 miners in the fire zone, nine of them received burns - in particular, one citizen of Ukraine. All the victims were able to independently climb to the surface, from where the miners with the most severe burns were evacuated by helicopters.

Two Polish citizens are among the four in serious condition.

Slovak services are investigating the cause of the incident.

We will remind you that in the spring of 2022 there were two mine accidents in Poland, as a result of which 15 miners were confirmed dead, and as far as is known, the search for seven more was stopped due to the threat of new explosions and casualties in the rescue team.
