Budva Mayor Milo Bozhovich, who is also one of the leaders of the pro-Russian Democratic Front, was detained in Montenegro.

This is reported by the "Balkansky Ogleklar" based on the materials of local publications.

Bozhovich was detained at his home in the center of Budva. Searches were also carried out in Cetinje and Pidgorica.

The representative of the special prosecutor of Montenegro, Vukas Radonich, said that the Special Police Department, with the support of the anti-terrorist unit of the police, is conducting investigations into two criminal cases.

According to him, the detention took place on the order of the prosecutor's office, with the support and assistance of Europol.

The leader of the "Democratic Front", ex-candidate for the president of Montenegro Andriy Mandych immediately reacted to the detention, saying that Bozhovich did not do anything illegal.

"The special prosecutor must provide a lot of evidence to justify these statements," Mandych said.

It is not known for sure what charges Bozhovych's detention is connected with.

In September 2022, the "M" portal published correspondence between two members of the Shkalyar criminal clan, in which Bozhovych's alleged illegal activities are mentioned in the context of the support he could provide them in the field of security. Bozhovych was then a member of the parliamentary committee on defense and security.

The Non-Governmental Sector Endorsement Network (MANS) announced earlier this year that it had lodged a complaint against Božovic with the Anti-Corruption Agency for breaching a legal obligation to declare his assets for the previous two years. MANS said data from the Budva cadastre showed "that Božović has significantly increased his property" compared to 2019, when he last reported it.

We will remind you that the leader of the "Demfront" Andrii Mandych ran for the presidential post, but did not make it to the second round, which quite unexpectedly changed the schedule of the elections.
