In Louisville, Kentucky, a bank employee shot and killed five colleagues and wounded nine others, including two police officers. Police said he broadcast the mass murder on Instagram.
Police opened fire on the attacker, who was armed with a rifle, and he was fatally wounded on the spot, Louisville police said. The shooter was identified as 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, who became a full-time employee of the bank last year. According to CNN, Sturgeon knew they were going to fire him.
Previously, Sturgeon was not under suspicion of the police. The bank manager described him as a reserved and calm person. "I've never seen Sturgeon get angry or upset about anything in public," he said.
Commenting on what happened, US President Joe Biden once again called for gun law reform. The shooting in Louisville was the 146th mass shooting in the United States since the beginning of the year.
