Since April 8, Bulgaria has introduced a ban on the entry of vessels certified by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to the country's sea and river ports.
This was reported by the Bulgarian Maritime Administration.
"From 00:00 on April 8, 2023, access to the sea and river ports of Bulgaria is prohibited for all vessels that have a certificate of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, regardless of the flag under which they fly," the message reads.
The ban is being introduced on the basis of EU rules, the administration said.
In April last year, Bulgaria already banned Russian-flagged vessels from entering its Black Sea ports as part of expanded EU sanctions.
European countries have announced the closure of their ports for ships from the Russian Federation in accordance with the directive of the European Union dated April 8.
