Since April 5, Ukrainian and Polish railway workers have started joint testing of the railway route Lublin - Rava-Ruska with 1435 mm Eurogauge.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Currently, the first train is being tested, which in a few months will start the connection between Warsaw and Rava-Ruska with a transfer to Lviv.
Thus, for passengers on the Polish route, Rava-Ruska will be a transfer point between a train on Eurotrack and a Ukrzaliznytsia train on Ukrainian track, which will take passengers to Lviv.
"The launch of the connection between Warsaw, Lublin, Rawa-Ruska and Lviv will satisfy the huge demand of Ukrainians for convenient rail logistics to and from the Polish capital, as well as relieve traffic checkpoints. We are working on making our countries even closer to each other." - commented Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The railway checkpoint on Ravi-Ruska has not served passengers for more than 20 years, but "Ukrzaliznytsia" has restored an 8.4 km long section of Eurotrack and restored the station at the station.
After the test trip, the Polish side will need several months to deploy full-fledged customs and border control and complete formalities, after which the date for the start of regular service will be announced.
