On Wednesday, Moldova received a grant in the amount of 10 million euros from the European Union, and next month another payment from the EU in the amount of 40 million euros in the form of loans will arrive in the country.

On Wednesday, the European Commission announced the payment of 50 million euros of financial support to Moldova within the framework of the current operation of macro-financial assistance for the total amount of 150 million euros.
According to the report, today Moldova received a grant in the amount of 10 million euros, and in early May the European Commission will make the next payment in the amount of 40 million euros in the form of loans.
"This is important support from the EU for one of the countries most affected by Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine," the European Commission explained.
EU support will help Moldova meet its urgent financing needs and support overall macroeconomic stability, as well as enable large-scale reforms.
The decision on the payment was made by the European Commission after concluding that Moldova fulfilled the political conditions agreed with Brussels for the allocation of this tranche.
In particular, Moldova strengthened public sector governance by taking measures to improve the management of public investment projects.
The Government of Moldova has made progress in managing the financial sector by adopting a new public finance management strategy.
Moldovan authorities have also made progress in strengthening the rule of law, filling leadership positions in several anti-corruption agencies. Parliament also adopted a new criminal asset recovery program.
The European Commission has already paid 50 million euros to Moldova as part of the first tranche of aid in August 2022.
In January of this year, the European Commission also proposed to increase the current macro-financial assistance to Moldova to 145 million euros. This proposal is currently under consideration by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU.
