Ukraine can ratify the Rome Statute in a fairly short term - Venislavsky

On March 24, during an Instagram broadcast with journalist Vadym Karpiak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba advocated the ratification of the Rome Statute, on the basis of which the International Criminal Court functions.

Kuleba reminded that Ukraine now "fully recognizes the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and without ratification."

On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Levova-Bilova, who is the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights.

This implies that if Putin appears near a state that is a party to the Rome Statute, this country should arrest him.

123 states are members of the Rome Statute, including South American states and about half of African states. Therefore, they should take into account the warrants issued by the ICC. China, India, Belarus, Turkey, Kazakhstan did not sign or ratify the statute. Russia, like the USA, signed the charter, but later withdrew its signature.
