Macron is waiting for Orbán for a working dinner: he talks about the importance of European unity

In the evening of March 13, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is waiting for the working dinner of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán.

Information about the meeting appeared in the schedule of the president, which is published by the Elysee Palace.

The leaders are due to meet on March 13 at 20:00, their first bilateral meeting since December 2021 in Budapest.

According to French media sources at the Elysee Palace, the meeting will be an opportunity to "confirm the importance of European values and the unity of European countries in supporting Ukraine, which is undergoing Russian aggression, in particular, through the application of sanctions against Russia."

In addition, Macron plans to remind Orbán of the need to ratify the NATO accession of Finland and Sweden (although French diplomatic sources are convinced that this will happen soon).

They also plan to discuss policy issues in the sphere of industry, energy and migration.

It will be recalled that Orban recently suggested that his country may have to reconsider its relations with Russia in the future due to the change in geopolitical realities after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Last month, it was unofficially reported that Budapest is allegedly threatening to block the continuation of personal sanctions imposed by the EU in connection with Russia's war against Ukraine, if several people are not removed from the list. However, on March 13, the sanctions were extended without changes.
