The apparatus of the Parliament of Georgia said that the building of the legislative body was damaged during the protests against the law on "foreign agents", therefore this week plenary sessions will not be held to assess the damage.

"On March 7-8, as a result of the violent actions of some citizens who gathered near the Palace of the Parliament of Georgia, damages were caused to the building and infrastructure of the parliament," the message reads.

In the building of the Parliament of Georgia, an access regime will be introduced, which will apply to all visitors, accredited media and members of the parliament, only those staff members who are to participate in the description and restoration of the damage will be admitted, the statement said.

The apparatus announced that the plenary meetings will not take place this week.

"Plenary meetings will not be held this week in order to avoid damage to the infrastructure and risks to the health of people who are in the building," the Georgian parliament said in a statement.

As you know, on Tuesday the Parliament of Georgia unexpectedly adopted in the first reading a law on "foreign agents", similar to the Russian legislation aimed at limiting Western influence. This caused spontaneous protests and clashes under the parliament, which continued the next day.
