Today, the IMF mission headed by Gavin Gray begins work to discuss a potential program for Ukraine supported by the Fund, the IMF and Ministry of Finance representatives reported.

"Today, March 8, the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Gavin Gray begins its work to discuss a potential program for Ukraine, which will be supported by the Fund," the Ministry of Finance reported.

The permanent representative of the IMF in Ukraine Vahram Stepanyan also made the following statement today: "The IMF mission headed by Gavin Gray is starting discussions today with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities regarding a potential program that will be supported by the IMF."

From the Ukrainian side, representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, as well as other bodies responsible for policies in the field of economy, energy, fight and prevention of corruption, and the rule of law are taking part in the discussions. Meetings are held in the city of Warsaw, Poland, as well as in an online format.

On February 17, 2023, representatives of Ukraine and the IMF reached an agreement at the working level on the revision of the four-month Monitoring Program with the involvement of the Board of Directors of the Fund. According to experts who were part of the IMF mission, the implementation of the Monitoring Program showed high results. The Ukrainian side fulfilled all the structural beacons agreed with the IMF within the framework of the monitoring program, and all quantitative and indicative goals were also achieved.

The agreements reached, which still require the approval of the IMF leadership, opened the way for the start of negotiations on a full-fledged program with the support of the IMF.
