Today, at an extraordinary meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine unanimously decided to appoint Semyon Kryvonos to the post of director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
As the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted, he studied in detail the materials on each of the candidates and personally met and communicated with each of them. As a result, the Prime Minister submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers a submission on the appointment of one of the candidates selected by the competition commission, Semyon Krivonos, to the position of NABU director.
In Telegram, Shmyhal noted that "the government appointed the director of NABU. Semyon Krivonos was just appointed head of the bureau at an extraordinary meeting."
"I consider all three candidates to be professionally trained persons for management positions in NABU. Given the independence and professionalism of the competition commission, there is no reason to doubt the independence and virtue of each of them, therefore I suggest that the newly appointed head of NABU consider the possibility of appointing two other candidates, Serhiy Hulyak and Roman Osypchuk, to leadership positions in NABU," added Shmyhal.
He noted in Telegram that "now Ukraine has fulfilled all seven recommendations of the EU, which were determined during the acquisition of candidate status." "This demonstrates our determination to move to the start of accession negotiations already this year," Shmyhal noted.
"With the appointment of the NABU director, we also have a fully formed and independent anti-corruption infrastructure. Our team is committed to the principle of zero tolerance for corruption and support for anti-corruption institutions," the head of government emphasized.
Prior to his appointment to the post of NABU director, Kryvonis was the head of the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning.
