The Parliament of Moldova approved the language law with a struggle

On Thursday, March 2, the Parliament of Moldova approved the language law in the first reading. However, the vote was not without a fight.

 This is reported by Newsmaker.

According to the draft law, the wording "Moldovan language" will be changed to "Romanian language" in the Constitution of Moldova.

During the presentation of the draft law, deputies from the bloc of communists and socialists came to the podium. They brought home-made posters calling for a referendum and early parliamentary elections.

One of the deputies grabbed the poster from another, after which a fight broke out between them. After that, the deputy from the communists took the microphone and started shouting "Moldova, Moldova". After that, the microphone was turned off, and the deputies continued the fight.

Speaker of the parliament Ihor Grosu called on the deputies to calm down. After the representatives of the parliamentary majority returned to their seats, the process of consideration of the draft law continued.

Despite the fight in the parliament, the draft law on renaming the state language in the Constitution was adopted by 55 votes of deputies.

We will remind, previously the ambassador of Moldova to Ukraine, Valeriu Kiver, stated that the withdrawal of Russian troops from unrecognized Transnistria depends on several factors, including Ukraine's successes on the battlefield.
