Revival of "Mriya". "Antonov" told how the construction of the new record-breaking plane is progressing

Antonov State Enterprise is working on the creation of the world's largest new An-225 Mriya aircraft. It was destroyed at Gostomel airfield in the first days after the full-scale Russian invasion.

The director of "Antonova" Vladyslav Vlasyk told about this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, Antonov employees are working on creating a new plane. Currently, the dismantling of the fuselage of the destroyed "Mriya" is underway, as well as the search for surviving parts of the aircraft structure.

When building a new aircraft, it will be created on the basis of the second instance. It is almost 70% ready and is located on the territory of the Antonov plant.

Vlasyk noted that outwardly the new "Mriya" will be no different from the plane that burned down in Gostomel.

However, the head of "Antonova" emphasized, inside it will be a completely new plane.

"We understand that the An-225 aircraft must be modernized, that is, restoring it to the state it was in is not appropriate and inappropriate," said Vlasyk.

He admitted that the construction of the plane requires a lot of money, but the funds for the construction of the second "Mriya" are ready to be provided by international donors.

An-225 "Mriya" is a transport jet aircraft with an extremely large cargo capacity, the largest aircraft in the world. It was designed and built in the Antonov OKB in the 80s of the last century.

"Mriya" is a one-of-a-kind aircraft. A second aircraft was also laid at the end of the 80s, but the work on its construction was not completed.

As reported, on February 27, 2022, the state concern "Ukroboronprom" reported that an An-225 "Mriya" aircraft was destroyed as a result of hostilities at the Gostomel airport.

The plane was in the hangar of the Antonov airport for repairs. Before the start of the Russian invasion, one engine was removed from it, for this reason the crew could not transport the plane to a safe place.

We will remind you that on November 8, 2022, Antonov State Enterprise announced the start of design work for the construction of the new Mriya An-225.
