Ukrainians received the right to stay in Georgia without visas for two years

Georgia has extended the visa-free stay of Ukrainians on the territory to two years.

This was reported by the publication "Georgia Online".

The government adjusted the norm that allowed citizens of Ukraine to enter Georgia without a visa and stay in the country for a full year.

According to the amendments published in the Legislative Gazette, which entered into force immediately after publication, citizens of Ukraine now have the right to enter Georgia without a visa and stay in the country for a full two-year period.

It will be recalled that in January, the head of the Ukrainian Embassy in Tbilisi, Andriy Kasyanov, stated in an interview with "EP" that if direct flights between Georgia and Russia are resumed and there is a threat to the life and safety of Ukrainians in the country, Kyiv does not exclude the possibility of their evacuation.

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia summoned the Ukrainian diplomat to clarify his words.

In the party, the Georgian authorities assured that there are no risks for the safety of Ukrainians on the territory of the country.

As of today, flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation have not been resumed.
