The President of Latvia urged to provide Saakashvili with all necessary medical assistance

The President of Latvia, Egils Levits, called on the authorities of Georgia to provide the former President of the country, Mikheil Saakashvili, with all the necessary medical assistance.

He wrote about it on Twitter.

"I call on the Georgian authorities to fully guarantee the rights of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, including the necessary medical care, in accordance with Georgia's international obligations and aspirations," the message reads.

In a resolution approved on February 15, MEPs expressed serious concern over the deterioration of the health of the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, and called for him to be pardoned and sent for treatment abroad.

At the same time, Hungary blocked the EU's statement of protest to the Georgian authorities in the Saakashvili case.
