Today, February 23, at 5:40 a.m. local time, a strong earthquake occurred in Tajikistan. Dushanbe shook for about 20-25 seconds, tremors from the earthquake were felt by residents of other regions of Tajikistan.
Tremors were also felt in China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
According to the American Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 47 kilometers from the territory of Alichur in the Murgab region, located in the east of Tajikistan. The magnitude at the epicenter was 6.8. The Reuters news agency, citing Chinese state television channels, reports the magnitude of this earthquake at 7.2.
So far, no information has been received about the damage caused by this earthquake. On the Facebook page of the Committee for Emergency Situations of Tajikistan, a post appeared: "Everything is calm in Sarez. Keep calm".
