Greece will not transfer S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, as this could weaken its own defenses.
This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Greece, Nikolaos Panayiotopoulos, in an interview with the ERT channel.
The minister explained that the S-300 systems were purchased by Greece for specific reasons, and while they exist, the country cannot transfer weapons.
"They were bought and arrived in Greece for specific reasons, and as long as those reasons are there, we will not accept any weakening of our defense system," Panaiotopoulos said.
At the same time, he specified that the support of Russian systems is becoming more and more difficult.
"If we reach a point where it is impossible to maintain these systems: we will either solve the problem of support or replace them. We are not there yet," the minister said.
It will be recalled that earlier Greece announced that it would not be able to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine due to strained relations with Turkey.
However, Greece recently handed over 20 BMP-1 armored vehicles and ammunition to Ukraine.
