The EU agreed to extend sanctions against Lukashenka and his entourage

EU ambassadors in Brussels have agreed to extend existing sanctions against individuals and legal entities in Belarus, including Oleksandr Lukashenka and his closest entourage, for a year, DW reports.

It is about frozen assets and a ban on issuing visas to the EU.

This was reported by Radio Svoboda journalist Rikard Jozvyak. "The EU ambassadors agreed to extend the visa ban/asset freeze for 1 year on 195 individuals and 34 organizations from Belarus, including Lukashenka and his closest entourage," he wrote on Twitter.

A new package of sanctions against the regime in Belarus for its support of Russian aggression against Ukraine will be discussed on February 22 in the afternoon together with the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, a European diplomat told DW.
