New Zealand imposed sanctions on Iran in response to the supply of drones to Russia

The New Zealand government has announced new sanctions against Iranian citizens and companies involved in the supply of drones to Russia.

This is reported on the website of the New Zealand government.

As the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nanaia Makhuta, announced, the new sanctions will apply to citizens and organizations involved in the supply of drones to Russia for attacks on the civil infrastructure of Ukraine, and will also affect those responsible for the suppression of protests that took place in the country last fall.

"In order to put pressure on Russia, we are introducing sanctions against eight Iranian citizens and companies, as the production and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles organized by them threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," Makhuta said.

The minister specified that the heads of enterprises related to the development and production of weapons, as well as the commander of the Iranian Air Force, Mohammad Alavi, were included in the new list of sanctions.

In addition, Mahuta said that New Zealand is introducing additional sanctions against Iranian nationals "responsible for human rights violations related to the protests after the death of Mahsi Amini."

It will be recalled that the other day the USA put seven companies from Iran on the "black list".

In addition, the United States imposed sanctions on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and five members of its board for suppressing protests in Iran.
