The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, expressed her concern about the state of health of the ex-President of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili, who is in prison. Sandu called on the Georgian authorities to immediately release Saakashvili and send him abroad for treatment. She wrote about this on February 2 on her Twitter.
"Mikhail Saakashvili's critical condition causes serious concern. Torturing the leader of the opposition to death is unacceptable for a country that wants to join the EU. Saakashvili should be immediately released and sent for treatment abroad," Sandu wrote.
The day before, on February 1, Saakashvili remotely joined the meeting of the Tbilisi City Court, which is considering the request of the lawyers to postpone the punishment and release him due to his health.
During the speech, the ex-president talked about his health and lifted his T-shirt to show how he lost weight during his imprisonment. He called it an "unethical picture" and apologized. Saakashvili said that the only thing he is asking for is "to provide adequate means of treatment."
