Next Friday, the Minister of Defense of Belgium Ludivin Dedonder will propose to the government to allocate a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It will include air defense systems and anti-tank weapons, as well as ammunition.
This is reported by RTL.
"This Friday, at the government meeting, I am going to offer new aid specifically to meet the urgent needs of Ukrainians regarding air defense and anti-tank weapons, as well as ammunition," the minister said.
At the same time, she noted that the tanks will not be included in the package, since Belgium does not have German Leopard 2. According to her, ten years ago, the country decided to sell them due to the end of their service.
At the same time, Dedonder noted that such tanks could be purchased for Ukraine, but now Belgian companies set an "unreasonable" price for them - 500,000 euros.
"Currently, there are Belgian companies that make an unreasonable markup. The resale price is 500,000 euros for cars that are stored in hangars and that have not undergone restoration work," she added.
As you know, today Germany officially confirmed its intentions to send modern German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
It is worth noting that, in addition to Germany, a number of European countries promise to provide such tanks to Kyiv. The tank coalition includes several countries that are ready to send equipment.
