NATO: Putin is preparing for a long war, so we must prepare for a long journey

Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Joani said that the countries of the Alliance should prepare for the fact that Ukraine will need help for a long time, as Vladimir Putin prepares for a long war.

He said this at the beginning of the NATO military committee meeting.

Joane recalled the words of Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that it is dangerous to underestimate Russia now.

"Putin is preparing for a long war. He has already mobilized more than 200,000 soldiers, many of whom are undergoing training. He is increasing Russian military production. And he is getting more weapons from other authoritarian regimes, including Iran," the Deputy Secretary General listed.

However, according to Joani, the most important thing is that there is no sign that Putin's goals have changed.

"That's why we have to be ready for a long journey," he said.

"The year 2023 will be difficult. And we must support Ukraine as much as it takes," NATO's Deputy Secretary General stressed.

It will be recalled that the Secretary General of NATO stated that Ukraine can count on an increase in the supply of heavy weapons from Western countries in the near future.
