German publications report that Boris Pistorius will be the new defense minister of Germany, replacing Christine Lambrecht, who resigned.

According to BILD's information from government circles, the Minister of the Interior of Lower Saxony, Boris Pistorius, will become the new Minister of Defense of Germany.

SPIEGEL also writes about this: "Boris Pistorius will become the future head of the Ministry of Defense." According to SPIEGEL, the interior minister of Lower Saxony is "taking over" from Christine Lambrecht, who has resigned.

Lambrecht resigned on January 16 after about 13 months in power. She was criticized not only for her indecisive course on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Her conduct in office was also criticized within the ministry. The minister's New Year greeting video, which was perceived as a failure, recently increased the pressure on her again.

Pistorius served in the Steuben Barracks in Ahimia from 1980 to 1981. Since 2013, he has been the Minister of the Interior and Sports of Lower Saxony, before that he was the mayor of Osnabrück. Pistorius is considered a prominent politician and internal security expert in Germany.
