The White House on the provision of long-range systems to Ukraine: we are aware of Ukraine's need

The United States understands Ukraine's need to defeat targets located further behind the front line, which current systems achieve, and conducts a corresponding dialogue with the Ukrainian side.

This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl at a meeting with journalists in Kyiv on Monday.

"As for long-range systems, the so-called ATACMS, we continue to hear interest in these systems (from the Ukrainian side). In my opinion, it is useful not to focus so much on this particular system, but on the need to hit more distant targets," he emphasized he.

"I will not go into details, but I will say: we are aware of this need in the current status, and we are discussing how Ukraine can cope with this challenge. I will not specify what systems may be in question, but we will continue the relevant dialogue with Ukrainian colleagues," the representative added Pentagon.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielus Landsbergis, called for long-range ATACMS missiles and Leopard tanks to be provided to Ukraine.

The mass media reported that Ukraine asked the US to hand over ATACMS long-range missile systems with the condition of agreeing on the targets that will be hit by them.

The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russia will consider the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine as the entry of the United States into the war.
