Vasyl Nebenzia, the Russian ambassador to the UN, said that the Russian authorities are ready to achieve the goals of the "military operation" in Ukraine during negotiations or military operations. He announced this at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission reports.
Nebenzya noted that it will be possible to end the military operations in Ukraine only when the territory of the state "no longer poses a threat" to the Russian Federation and there is no discrimination against the Russian-speaking population.
"If this result can be achieved through negotiations, then we are ready for such a scenario. If not, all the tasks will be achieved by military means," he said.
The diplomat also stated that the "peace plan" of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, "has nothing to do with reality," and he called the "world summit" initiative a "propaganda pacifier."
According to Nebenzi, the Russian authorities have never declared that their goal is the destruction of Ukraine as a state, "its de-Ukrainization and violent Russification."
In response, Ukraine's ambassador to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsia, called Russia algae of the UN Security Council. He announced this on Twitter.
"Demagogy is like algae and can create an environment of more and more demagoguery. (…) We will not allow Russian algae to displace others in the UN," the diplomat said.
[Demagoguery is like algae] can “create an environment of more and more demagoguery”*. Russia is the algae of the UN Security Council. We shall not let Russian algae crowd out others in the Chamber. *Reading a good book through "the evil's messenger's" intervention in the UNSC. pic.twitter.com/xPcwumtwbV
