The EU and NATO have created a working group to jointly protect critical infrastructure.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated this at a joint briefing with the Secretary General of NATO.

She emphasized that at the meeting of the European Commission together with Stoltenberg on Wednesday, they will discuss the strengthening of cooperation between the EU and NATO in the field of critical infrastructure security.

"The Nord Stream sabotage showed that we have to be ready and that we have to face this new type of threat. That's why today we are launching the EU-NATO working group for sustainable critical infrastructure," said the head of the European Commission.

"This is a working group where our experts from NATO and the EU will work together to identify key threats to critical infrastructure, to examine the strategic vulnerabilities we have, and of course to develop key principles to improve our resilience and to proposing mitigating actions and measures to eliminate the consequences," she added.

The working group will initially cover four sectors: transport, energy, digital and space. "And of course we will inform member states and allies about our results," von der Leyen said.
