The Government of India is closely monitoring the possible additional sanctions of the European Union on Russian oil. If the price of oil exceeds 60 dollars per barrel, New Delhi can impose restrictions on purchases. This is reported by Telegraph India.

Sources of the publication report that the restriction did not affect the import of Russian oil, as the price is now 53-56 dollars per barrel.

However, the government is weighing options if the price exceeds $60 a barrel - then purchases will be limited - or if the EU decides to introduce comprehensive secondary sanctions against countries that buy Russian oil.

Russia remained India's top oil exporter for the third consecutive month in December, supplying 1.17 million barrels per day of crude oil, an all-time high. Imports in December were 24% higher than in November, with private refiners becoming the main buyers.
