The situation along the border line with Belarus remains fully controlled, but quite tense, the Russian Federation and Belarus are constantly exacerbating the situation in this direction through joint exercises, said Andrii Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
"As for inciting the situation, yes: both the Russian Federation and Belarus, even with their joint exercises, are constantly escalating the situation in this direction. In addition, we see that Belarus is actively using its infrastructure as a platform for these joint exercises. They have been going on for a long time. So far, they have announced aviation training, before that only training of land units was announced," he said on the air of the telethon.
Demchenko emphasized that no movement of equipment, aircraft flights or other provocations are recorded directly near the border.
"But with such maneuvers, inciting the situation about building up the so-called regional grouping of the allied country's troops, they are constantly inciting the situation. Of course, we are forced to keep the necessary amount of forces and funds in this direction in order to repel the enemy in the event of an attempt to invade the territory of Ukraine. And we cannot use these forces in more important directions, where full-scale combat operations are currently underway," he said.
The State Border Service noted that the situation regarding the border line remains fully controlled, but quite tense.
"Ukraine has never denied that the invasion of Russian units may resume from the direction of Belarus, or we see that the Russian Federation is actively putting pressure on Belarus," Demchenko said.
