Germany's decision to transfer the Marder BMP and the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine on the eve of the Christmas holidays and the ceasefire announced by Moscow in the Russian Federation was called cynical. This is stated on the website of the Russian Embassy in Germany.
"We strongly condemn this decision and consider it as another step towards the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. It looks especially cynical to adopt it on the eve of the Orthodox holiday of Christmas, which is highly respected in the Christian world, as well as against the background of the unilateral ceasefire announced by the President of Russia in this regard," the message said.
The embassy also emphasized that the transfer of lethal weapons and heavy military equipment to Kyiv is a "moral boundary" that Berlin should not have crossed.
"Infusing Kyiv with lethal weapons and heavy military equipment, which are used not only against Russian servicemen, but also against the civilian population of Donbas, is the moral line that the German authorities should not have crossed, taking into account the historical responsibility of Germany to our people for the crimes of Nazism during the Great of the Patriotic War," says the embassy's commentary.
The Russian Embassy emphasized that the actions of Germany indicate that Western countries "are not interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine", and this will have a negative impact on the relations between Russia and Germany.
