Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to implement a ceasefire for Christmas. This is reported by rosZMI.

 Thus, Putin instructed to implement from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7 a ceasefire regime "along the entire line of combat confrontation in the SVO zone."

 "In view of the address of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I instruct the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to introduce a ceasefire regime from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7 along the entire line of combat of the parties in Ukraine," the Kremlin press service reported.

 At the same time, Putin called on Ukraine to also introduce a ceasefire for Christmas.

 "Based on the fact that a large number of citizens who practice Orthodoxy live in the areas of hostilities, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give them the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on Christmas Day," Putin said.
