The Tbilisi City Court, which is considering a request to postpone the sentence or release the ex-president of Georgia Mykhailo Saakashvili due to his health, decided to postpone the meeting scheduled for today. The trial will continue after the New Year holidays - January 9, 2023.
As the ex-president's lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze stated, the judge considering the case went to the conference room to make a decision in another case. Before announcing the sentence, according to the lawyer, the judge has the constitutional right to refuse to hold hearings in the remaining cases.
It should be noted that earlier the defense side asked to continue the process on a daily basis due to Saakashvili's deteriorating health.
