The head of the Ministry of Defense of Italy, Guido Crozetto, said that in the event of a threat of defeat in the war against Ukraine, Russia may use tactical nuclear weapons. This is reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano.
The use of tactical nuclear energy is planned by Russia. For us it is unthinkable, but for Moscow - yes, if the point of no return is passed, if they risk defeat, then it is so," said Crosetto.
According to him, the danger of using such weapons "potentially exists", although the minister considers it unlikely.
The minister also assured that the Italian authorities will continue to support Ukraine, including the supply of weapons.
"If possible, we will certainly help them defend themselves: Russia has crossed a line that it shouldn't have crossed," Crosetto said.
