The UN gave a cautious response to the "peace summit" proposed by Ukraine through the mediation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Associated Press reports.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that his government wants to hold a "peace summit" at the UN within two months with the participation of Secretary General Antonio Guterres as a mediator. Thus, Ukraine wants to end the war started by Russia.

"The UN gave a very cautious answer," the publication notes.

"As the Secretary-General has stated many times in the past, he can only mediate if all parties want him to mediate," UN Deputy Spokesperson Florencia Soto Nino-Martinez said on Monday.

The Kremlin commented on the "peace summit" at the UN, which was proposed by Ukraine.

Kremlin Speaker Peskov rejects the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba regarding the peace summit. He reported this in a comment to RosZMI.

"We never followed other people's conditions, we focused only on our goals and on common sense," Pеskоv said.
