The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, thanked everyone who joins the "LightUpUkraine" action, which is designed to support the collection of funds around the world for the purchase of generators for Ukrainian hospitals, noting that such support is extremely important for Ukraine.
"On the longest night of 2022, more than 60 of the world's most famous locations turned off their lights as a sign of solidarity with our country and called on their visitors to join the collection for generators for Ukrainian hospitals. Such support is extremely important to us. Thank you to everyone who joins the #LightUpUkraine campaign! ", Zelenskyi wrote in Telegram.
According to the president, when people spend four, ten, twenty hours or even days without light, they begin to get used to the darkness, and "this is the worst thing that can happen."
"This means that light is not the only thing they want to take away. It is an encroachment on every part of life. This is how we live in Ukraine now - defending ourselves from the enemy who came to destroy us," he noted and thanked all true friends of Ukraine.
