The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, said in a telephone conversation with the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, that the Chinese authorities consider it necessary to hold peace talks regarding Ukraine, as it is not beneficial for either side to prolong and complicate the crisis surrounding this country.
"Those who spoke exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis. Xi Jinping said that the Chinese authorities are supporters of negotiations for the sake of peace, they believe that a prolonged and complicated conflict is not in anyone's interests," the CGTN TV channel reports.
At the same time, the leader of the People's Republic of China noted that he supports Europe's steps to achieve strategic autonomy, build an effective and stable European security architecture, and establish long-term stability and peace on the continent.
