Ukraine is ready to provide treatment for Saakashvili - Podolyak

Ukraine is ready to receive ex-president of Georgia Mykhailo Saakashvili and provide him with medical treatment, Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

"It is impossible to watch a person you know die live. It is impossible to watch the history of Georgia and its president being killed in front of the eyes of the civilized world. Ukraine is ready to receive Mykhailo Saakashvili, to ensure his safety and proper treatment. Georgia, make the right choice," wrote Podolyak.

It will be recalled that Saakashvili secretly arrived in Georgia on September 29 last year. On October 1, he was detained in Tbilisi, after which he was placed in prison in the city of Rustavi, where he went on a hunger strike. On November 8, he was transferred from the prison in the city of Rustavi to the prison hospital in Tbilisi (Gldani district) without the consent of his relatives and lawyers. On November 20, Saakashvili was transferred to a military hospital in the city of Gori, where he stopped his hunger strike. On May 12 of this year, Saakashvili was admitted to the civil clinic "Vivamed" in Tbilisi, where he is now.
