Qatar has warned the EU about the "gas" consequences of not being admitted to the European Parliament

Qatar called the proposal not to allow its representatives to the European Parliament against the backdrop of a corruption scandal a form of discrimination.

This was reported by the AFP agency with reference to Doha's statement.

Qatar rejected accusations of a corruption scandal in the European Parliament and warned of negative consequences for gas supplies if access to the European Parliament was cut off for Qatari officials.

The possible suspension of Qatar's access to the European Parliament until the end of the legal proceedings is a "discriminatory" measure that "has a negative impact on regional and global security cooperation and on the ongoing negotiations on the global energy and security deficit," the statement said.

"We strongly reject the accusations that our government is involved in wrongdoing," the message states.

Corruption scandal in the European Parliament.

At the beginning of December, the vice-chairman of the European Parliament, a representative of the social democratic wing from Greece, Eva Kaili, became one of the six suspects in the investigation of possible corruption on the part of Qatar.

Three of the four arrested suspects, including Eva Kylie, remain in custody, while the fourth has been released with an electronic bracelet, Belgium's federal prosecutor said on Wednesday.

Brussels investigators suspect that Qatar used money and gifts to influence economic and political decisions in the European Parliament. Searches were conducted and more than 1.5 million euros of suspicious origin were found.
