The Ukrainian ombudsman asks the Georgian authorities to let him go to Saakashvili

Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubynets, calls on the Georgian authorities to allow him to visit the prisoner Mykhailo Saakashvili.

"Mykhailo Saakashvili's health has deteriorated significantly. I consider it necessary, personally, as the ombudsman of Ukraine, to make sure that there is no threat to his life. I call on the Georgian authorities to allow me to visit a citizen of Ukraine who is currently in the Vivamedi medical center in Tbilisi," Lubynets wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to him, the critical condition in which Ukrainian citizen Mykhailo Saakashvili is now "causes alarm and concern."

"Therefore, the Georgian side should provide him with proper medical care and proper conditions of detention in a medical institution. Or it will facilitate the transfer to European or American medical institutions," he added.

Lubynets assured that Ukraine will pay maximum attention to the observance of the rights and interests of its citizens who are abroad.
