Ukraine proposes to expand the "grain corridor" to the ports in Mykolaiv - Shmyhal

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the Ukrainian authorities are in favor of expanding the grain export initiative to the Mykolaiv and Olvia ports. He announced this at a joint briefing with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths.

"Ukraine is in favor of expanding the initiative to export grain to our other ports. In particular, the Mykolaiv and Olvia ports in Mykolaiv Oblast," Shmyhal noted.

He also stated that the Ukrainian authorities count on the support of partners in this matter, in particular from the UN.

The Prime Minister announced that 544 ships with 13.9 million tons of food were sent to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe as part of the grain initiative.

According to Shmyhal, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products remains an effective tool for combating the food crisis in the world. At the same time, he noted that in the short term, the world market will not be able to replace food from Ukraine.
