Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Parliament Speaker Gliak Konyufca signed the application for membership in the European Union on Wednesday.
Osmani noted that today is a "historic moment" and Kosovo is one step closer to realizing the dream of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom, independence and democracy, as well as "to realizing our common and unwavering desire to join the European Union."

"The youngest country on the oldest continent, a country of political pluralism, Kosovo with a free market economy deserves to be part of the EU family. Our way forward is clear, the process may be long-term, but we will do all the work so that the EU can more easily do its job," she said. Ottomans.
It is not yet known how the EU will respond to Kosovo's application, because its independence has not been recognized by five EU countries: Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Slovakia and Romania.
