On the anniversary of the Holodomor, US President Joe Biden said that the US honors the memory of all those who died in this senseless tragedy and pays tribute to the resilience of the Ukrainian people who survived devastation and tyranny to ultimately create a free and democratic society.

 

 "While the brave Ukrainian people continue to defend their democracy and freedom from Russia's brutal aggression, we do not forget to honor the victims of the injustice and horrors inflicted on Ukraine in the past. This November marks the anniversary of the Holodomor - "death by hunger". Joseph Stalin implemented harsh and repressive policies against Ukraine, including the creation of a deliberate famine in 1932-33, which led to the deaths of millions of innocent Ukrainian women, men and children," the White House said in a statement.

 

 The US President also stated that the US reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and honors the memory of the victims of the Holodomor.
