Negotiations between the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo are taking place in Brussels on November 21, with the mediation of the EU, in an attempt to avoid escalation in Kosovo due to the gradual ban on Serbian car number plates.
This is reported by RTS.
The meeting started at 9 o'clock in the morning, although it was initially reported that the negotiations were planned from 8 o'clock. They are attended by President of Serbia Oleksandr Vucic, Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti, Chief EU Diplomat Josep Borrell and Special Representative of the European Union Myroslav Lajcak.
First there was a conversation between European diplomats with Vučić, then with Kurti, after that – joint negotiations.
Borrell's statement to the press is expected after the meeting.
As a reminder, from November 21, the Kosovo authorities will start fining Kosovo Serbs whose cars have not received national Kosovo license plates. Pristina postponed the requirement to re-register cars for many years in a row due to the protests of the Kosovo Serbs, but this time in Kosovo they decided not to make any more concessions. In response, Kosovo Serbs began to leave the local authorities and the police and threatened protests immediately after the first fines.
