A strong earthquake struck off the Greek island of Crete early Monday, but there were no reports of damage. This is reported by Reuters.

 According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5 and was felt as far away as Cairo, Egypt. Earthquakes were also felt by Turkey.

 Earlier, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) revised the magnitude of the earthquake from 6 to 5.4.

 The quake struck at a depth of 80 km (49.71 miles), EMSC said.
